I applied to University in December last year, with a mind to do Psychology with Educational studies, and was hoping to follow on with a PGCE in Primary teacher training, but just in case I changed my mind I thought I'd do Psychology with it as a back up, and because I have a keen intrerest and was good at it for A Leve. However, having started the course, the atmosphere in the psychology department, and the actual teaching was not for me. It was taught really scientifically, and the lecturers were moving far too fast, and did not make you feel very welcome and were really disorganised. On the other hand, the Educational Studies side of things was much nicer. The atmosphere was a far more friendly one, and the teaching was far more relaxed, and I felt as though the lecturers were happy to help, which was the complete opposite of Psychology. Seeing as my main long term goal in life when applying was to do a PGCE in Primary Teaching I thought I would like to change to Full honours Educational Studies as I am pretty sure that's what I would like a career in.
It has taken a while to sort things out, but everything is finally sorted, and I am now in full time for Educational Studies. This is the first week of the full timetable, and it is going well so far. This morning had Numeracy, which frightened the living daylights out of me when we had to do a Key Stage 2 maths sat paper, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Maths has always been a bit of a week point, but still managed to only get two wrong, which was a bit of a confidence booster.
